2013 Activities

The Holiday Season  2013

On December 8, 2013 Westview members and friends joined the Praise Team to sing Christmas carols for the JACL Senior Center.

Everyone had a glorious time as they sang favorite Christmas carols together, received gift bags and

JACL members over 90-years-old helped cut the cake that was donated by Westview.

On December 14, 2013 Westview carolers were joined by Girl Scout Troop #14042 to sing Christmas carols at local senior facilities

(Valley Convalescent, Country Villa (east and west wings), Wesley House on Brewington and Wesley House in La Selva Beach.

It was a joy to have the residents join in the caroling. Our hope was to touch those we met but found that we were the ones truly blessed.

Held on December 15, 2013 our Christmas Appreciation Luncheon was a joyous occasion.

Everyone enjoyed the delicious ham dinner with all the trimmings.

Randy and Tracy Mano were honored for their dedication to our Lord and Westview.

This heartwarming event concluded with our Christmas gift exchange.

Our annual Harvest Dinner, held on November 2, 2013 was attended by 120 friends and family.

This year’s “Free Will Offering” recipients were the women from Teen Challenge, our special guests.

After enjoying a delicious teriyaki chicken dinner, we assembled in the sanctuary.

The Teen Challenge Women opened the program by leading everyone with song. Teen Challenge Women Center  is a faith-based, non-profit,

residential discipleship/recovery program for women with life-controlling problems, including (but not limited to)

drug and alcohol abuse and their present needs (clothes dryer).

Three of the women gave their testimonies and talked about how the Women’s Center has helped them.

Listening to their amazing stories and their renewal of their faith showed us all how good God is.

We then held an open mic, giving everyone an opportunity to speak about how the Lord has blessed us this past year.

The evening ended by our closing song “Give Thanks” and Pastor Dan Hoffman’s benediction.

The evenings “Free Will Offering” total was an awesome $1425!

On Saturday October 19, 2013 Westview participated once again in the Pajaro Valley CROP Hunger Walk.

CROP Hunger Walks are community-wide events sponsored by CWS (Church World Service) and organized by local volunteers to raise funds to end hunger.

Twenty-five percent of the money raised through the walk will be serving the hunger needs of the local community.

The 5.6k (3.6 miles) long walk began at the Second Harvest Food Bank in Watsonville.

A total number of thirteen walkers represented Westview at this annual event.

Everyone had such a wonderful time supporting a great cause and Westview was able to raise over $500!

On July 20, 2013 Westview once again participated at Relay For Life to help raise money for the American Cancer Society.

The event started at 10 a.m. Saturday morning  on July 20th and ended at 10 a.m. Sunday morning on July 21st.

During the day our booth sold bento box lunches, had a mini rummage sale, and had a ping pong activity and a dyed rice art activity for children.

In total we had 28 walkers.

In addition to the Relay for Life event, Westview held a car wash on May 25th and a rummage sale on June 29th.

Westview was able to raise more than $3500 for the American Cancer Society.

Easter 2013

More than eighty people attended our Easter Worship Service.

An Easter egg hunt took place after Worship Service

and kids filled their Easter baskets/bags full of goodies.

The adults were not left out as they also received Easter bags full of Easter treats.

A scrumptious potluck luncheon was served and a raffle for all ages took place.
